Title:    Part Time Police Officer 
FLSA Status:  Non Exempt 
Reports to:  Police Chief 
Salary Range: $12.00 per hour 

The City of Claremont (pop. 1,461) is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Police Officer.  Under General Supervision, performs all functions of law enforcement work associated with a certified police officer as established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission; performs related work as required.   
Must be a citizen of the United States, at least 20 years of age, high school graduate or have obtained a GED, possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license, successfully completed the NC Basic Law Enforcement Training, be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation, be fingerprinted and photographed, have a satisfactory history of financial responsibility, and committed no felonies or serious misdemeanors.  Must meet and maintain all minimum requirements for the position established by the City of Claremont and N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.  Work performed indoors, traveling in a vehicle, and outside where the employee may be exposed to cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases and life-threatening situations.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:  Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking. Heavy Work: Exerting 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
